Ban Simunkhoun School Renovation

Community Project #1

Ban Simungkhoun, a small village located south of the lodge on Done Daeng island, was devastated by the Kitsana storm in 2009. The wooden schoolhouse was nearly collapsing, and the villagers were desperate for a new school.

The project started in 2009, with the guests donations of USD 9,781 and the lodge completing the remaining USD 2,440 needed to buy all the materials. With the combined efforts of all involved, the new concrete schoolhouse was finally opened in November 2013.

The new school is a source of pride for the villagers, and it provides a safe learning environment for the children of Ban Simungkhoun. The project is a testament to the power of community cooperation and the generosity of donors.
