Medical Dispensary Renovation
Community Project #2
The dispensary on Done Daeng Island was built in 1995, but it had suffered from the harsh weather conditions and lack of proper medical equipment and training for its four nurses.
Started in 2013, the guests and the lodge covered the cost of about USD 15,000 for the project. The renovation included a complete overhaul of the building inside and out, the addition of proper toilets and showers, refurbishment of the dispensary, and the purchase of new medical equipment. The medical staff also received training on how to use the new equipment.
The labor to carry out the construction work was done by voluntaries from the island, allowing an opening of the renovated dispensary in November 2015.
The dispensary was in a state of disrepair, but thanks to the generosity of donors and the hard work of volunteers, it was transformed into a safe medical facility.
